This Studebaker President was used by Mahatma Gandhi during his Pondicherry tour. I found it in Bangalore’s Gandhi Park, where it had been displayed for Gandhi Jayanthi. The organizers didn’t want to bear the cost of returning it to Pondicherry, so my collector informed me about it. I bought it for about ₹5,000.

What makes it truly special is a handwritten letter by Gandhi to the car’s driver, Bob John, acknowledging his care. Owning both the car and this letter is a privilege.
